Police in Garland are investigating the stabbing death of an elderly woman.
A relative found the body of 71-year-old Janet Vanderslice at her home in the 6200 block of Lennox Lane Saturday evening. She had been living alone.
'When we got here, officers said it looked suspicious to them, so we're treating it as a murder,' police spokesman Joe Harn said. 'We won't know cause of death until the medical examiner tells us that.'
Police have not yet released any information about possible suspects, and investigators are appealing to the public to report any suspicious activity in the area.
