A 46-year-old teacher at Denton Guyer High School has been arrested after allegedly performing a sex act with a 17-year-old student in her classroom.

Jeanna Wesson turned herself in to Denton police Thursday morning after an arrest warrant was issued Wednesday afternoon.

The alleged victim is a former student who is no longer enrolled at Guyer High School.

Wesson is accused of exchanging “inappropriate pictures and videos” with the student and “performing a sexual act” with him in her classroom, Denton police said. Police issued the arrest warrant after executing a search warrant and interviewing Wesson.

Denton ISD placed Wesson on administrative leave. Her teacher pages appear to have been removed from the Denton ISD website. She taught science at the high school.

“Any time allegations of this nature are brought to us, we act swiftly and effectively to take appropriate action,” the district said in a statement. “The details are immediately being investigated by district personnel and reported to the Texas State Board of Education.”

Guyer High School Principal Shaun Perry sent the following letter to parents Thursday:

Wildcat Family:

In our efforts to keep you informed about events on or near our campus, we wanted to share with you that the Denton Police Department notified Denton ISD that a former student brought forward information that a staff member behaved in an inappropriate manner with them while they were a student on our campus. That staff member was immediately placed on leave pending the outcome of an internal and a police investigation.

Through our cooperation with Denton Police, law enforcement officials shared with us that the allegations surround a former student, an individual no longer currently enrolled.

Any time allegations of this nature are brought to us, we act swiftly and effectively to take appropriate action. The details are immediately being investigated by district personnel and reported to the Texas State Board of Education.

We applaud the individual(s) who bravely came forward with information and reported it to authorities.
