DENTON, Texas — Three suspects have been charged after they allegedly stabbed a 62-year-old military veteran during a robbery on Memorial Day, police say.

The victim was working at a convenience store in the 4000 block of Teasley Lane in Denton County when two masked suspects entered and demanded money, police said. One of them reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times in the abdomen during the robbery, then both suspects stole cash, a can of beer and vape products before fleeing in a car driven by the third suspect.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

Officers found the suspect vehicle on Wednesday morning, police said, leading them to identify the three suspects: Ryan Alvarez of Argyle, 20, Justin Bustillos of Denton, 20, and the driver, Edgar Cuevas of Krum, 20. Bustillos is accused by police of stabbing the victim. Cuevas was also reportedly seen obstructing the vehicle's license plate before the other two suspects entered the store.

All three suspects are being held in the city of Denton Jail, police say, and no bonds have been set at this time.
