North Texas prostitution sting leads to 18 arrests

DENTON COUNTY, Texas — The Denton County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) is cracking down on prostitution in the area.

Wednesday, the department announced the arrest of 18 men accused of soliciting prostitution as part of a targeted enforcement last week.

On August 14 and 15, DCSO executed a “Prostitution Demand Suppression Operation." Deputies arrested 18 men and they were charged with Solicitation of Prostitution which is a state jail felony, according to DCSO.

The department said the goal of the operation was to decrease prostitution in the community by arresting offenders attempting to purchase sexual favors for money. 

Two men were arrested on the charge of Solicitation of Prostitution under 18 which is a second-degree felony. Two others were also charged with Unlawful Carrying Weapon. In addition three of the men were charged with Evading Arrest Detention.
