14-year-old injured in shooting after Downtown Dallas club's 'back-to-school event,' police say

The teen who was injured in the Sunday night shooting was not believed to have been its intended target, police said.

DALLAS — A teen was grazed by a bullet after a back-to-school party at a club in Downtown Dallas.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at James W. Aston Park near the intersection of North Harwood Street and Pacific Avenue, police said in a statement.

The shooting occurred after a "back-to-school event" had ended at nearby Club Vivo, police on the scene said. A group gathered in the park where the 14-year-old boy was shot in the arm, police said. The victim was transported to a hospital.

Investigators found the teen was standing in a group when they heard people fighting nearby and then gunshots, police said in a release.

Officers on the scene did not think the teen was the intended target of the shooting.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
