DALLAS — A Dallas police officer turned herself in Monday after she was indicted on multiple charges, including theft and tampering with a government record, the Dallas Police Department confirmed.

The Dallas Police Department Public Integrity Unit began investigating allegations of criminal misconduct against the officer, Sgt. Katherine Silvia, in March 2023, the department said. That investigation found that over the course of three months, Silvia had committed theft, forged documents and falsified time cards, police alleged.

The case was referred to the Dallas County District Attorney's Office in August last year, and a Dallas County grand jury indicted her on charges of theft between $2,500 and $30,000, tampering with a government record, and false statement property/credit between $2,500 and $30,000.

Silvia will remain on administrative leave from the Dallas Police Department pending the results of an administrative investigation.
