IRVING, Texas — A Dallas police officer turned himself in for a warrant claiming he released body camera footage illegally, according to the Dallas Police Department.
On Thursday, DPD Officer Ali Toppa, 28, turned himself into Irving police for an outstanding warrant out of Dallas for "Unauthorized Release of Body Worn Camera Recording," a misdemeanor charge.
Thursday evening Toppa's bond was set at $500.
In a statement, Dallas PD said Officer Toppa has been with the department since Sept. 2020 and was assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division. DPD said Toppa is on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation.
