Woman injured after security guard fires shots at two car break-in suspects, Dallas police say

Officers said a woman was found shot inside her apartment and transported to a local hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time, but police said she’s stable.

DALLAS — An innocent bystander was shot while a security guard was trying to stop a vehicle break-in, the Dallas Police Department (DPD) says.

According to DPD, officers were called to the 9900 block of Bruton Road in response to a shooting at about 10:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15.

DPD said the preliminary investigation determined that an armed uniformed security guard confronted two suspects who were breaking into a car. One suspect allegedly pulled a gun, and the security guard drew his weapon and fired multiple shots, DPD said.

Officers said a woman was found shot inside her apartment and transported to a local hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time, but police said she’s stable.

DPD said the two suspects, only described as juveniles, were taken into custody.

Police told WFAA the juveniles didn't return fire at the security guard. The investigation is ongoing, and the case has been referred to the Dallas County Grand Jury, police said.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.
