Clerk seriously injured, pharmacist held at gunpoint in armed robbery at North Texas Walgreens, police say

Police said the suspects placed about $5,000 in cash into a trash can and fled from the Walgreens in a black Chevrolet Impala.

LAKE WORTH, Texas — The Lake Worth Police Department says two suspects are wanted in connection with an armed robbery that resulted in a Walgreens clerk being seriously injured.

According to police, just before 3:40 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, two suspects were seen on surveillance video entering a Walgreens Pharmacy located in the 6200 block of Lake Worth Boulevard. Police said one suspect was armed with a rod-style taser and the other was armed with a handgun.

Police said the suspect armed with the handgun headed straight to the pharmacy area where he grabbed the pharmacist’s head and forced her to remove controlled substances from the secure storage area. Then, the suspect took the pharmacist by the hair and forced her at gunpoint to move to the back office, police said.

At that same time, police said the suspect armed with the taser could be seen grabbing the front desk clerk and forcing her to the ground while tasing her body. The suspect then dragged the clerk to the back office where the pharmacist was being held and kept the clerk on the ground with a gun pointed to the back of her head, police said.

Both suspects then reportedly forced the pharmacist to open the safe in the back office. Police said the suspects placed about $5,000 in cash into a trash can and fled from the Walgreens in a black Chevrolet Impala.

Lake Worth Police Department said that 911 was called just before 3:50 a.m. and officers immediately responded to the store, where they began to render aid to the injured clerk. Police said the clerk was transported to a local hospital in serious condition, and she had to undergo surgery for her injuries. Police said she is currently recovering.

Police said the pharmacist was uninjured.

During the investigation, detectives found that the suspects surveilled the pharmacy for about 15 minutes before the robbery.

The Lake Worth Police Department is asking anyone with information on the identity of the suspects or this crime to call 817-237-1224 or email LWCID@lakeworthtx.org.
