KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A Kaufman County jury sentenced a 27-year-old man found guilty of indecency with a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old to two, 20-year prison sentences.
Kyle Brandon Williams was found guilty last month on two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact.
While he was the live-in boyfriend of the two victims' mother, the jury heard testimony that he began perpetrating the offenses against the two children. Following outcries from the victims, their mother was later arrested and charged with hindering the arrest of Williams after he was found hiding in her closet.
The jury took less than an hour to determine his guilt, and afterwards, Judge Shelton T.W. Gibbs IV of the 422nd District Court sentenced Williams to the maximum sentence of 20 years for each charge, to be served consecutively, and remarked on Williams' failure to take responsibility for his own actions.
