Former North Texas school district bus driver will not face charges after accused of child sex crimes in May 2023

Paul Russo was arrested in May 2023 on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child involving a student in the district.

COPPELL, Texas — The case against a North Texas bus driver accused of child sex crimes has been rejected by the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, officials confirmed to WFAA.

Paul Russo, who was working for a third-party company contracted by Coppell ISD, was arrested in May 2023 on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child involving a student in the district.

Due to privacy laws, the details surrounding the alleged incident involving Russo were not released.

Russo posted a $50,000 bond the day following his arrest.

School officials told WFAA that Russo was never an employee with the school and was immediately placed on leave and eventually fired by Durham Transportation Services after the allegations were reported.

The Dallas County DA told WFAA that Russo’s case was rejected on Sept. 26, 2023 – meaning the case was never filed in court or indicted.

The Dallas County DA’s Office had no further details as to why.

WFAA also reached out to Coppell ISD who couldn’t comment on the “ongoing legal matter.”
