CARROLLTON -- Police are looking for a fellow employee in the murder of Todd Edward Fenton, a Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District maintenance supervisor found shot dead at his workplace Wednesday night.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Gerardo Rodriguez Alvarez, 36, and police confirmed to News 8 Alvarez is a district employee who worked in the same facility as Fenton.
'Their investigation and the intelligence they received pointed to this gentlemen as a suspect,' said Carrolton Police Media Specialist Nicole Rodriguez.
Alvarez is described as a Hispanic male, 6-foot-2, 190 lbs., with brown eyes and brown hair, and was last seen driving a 1997 beige Mercury Cougar, with Texas plate #DC5J438.
Fenton, a supervisor for the maintenance and landscaping department who was employed by the district for 15 years, was found dead by a co-worker at about 11:20 p.m. Wednesday. He had been working late at the CFBISD Service Center in the 1500 block of Randolph St.
Police confirmed surveillance footage helped detectives in identifying Alvarez. They did not disclose what the motive may have been.
Alvarez was not at his home when officers attempted to make an arrest.
Contact the Carrollton Police Department at 972.466.3333 if you have any information about Alvarez's whereabouts.
'He could be armed and dangerous,' Rodriguez said. 'If you know anything, please let Carrolton police know and do not try and approach him.'
