Assault suspect leads police on chase from Mesquite to Fort Worth, officials say

A little before 9:30 a.m. Thursday, police said they got a call from someone saying they had been assaulted by someone they knew in the 4800 block of Eastover Drive.

ARLINGTON, Texas — An assault suspect has been arrested after leading police on a chase from Mesquite to Fort Worth Thursday morning, police said.

A little before 9:30 a.m., Mesquite police said they got a call from someone saying they had been assaulted by someone they knew in the 4800 block of Eastover Drive. When officers arrived, they said suspect got in his car and took off. 

The suspect drove to Interstate 30 and headed west, through Dallas and into Tarrant County. As of 10:36 a.m., the chase came to an end and the suspect was taken into custody in Fort Worth.

Police said the assault call was a misdemeanor, but officers learned the suspect had active felony warrants for obstruction, assault on a peace officer and evading in a vehicle.

More information about the suspect and the chase was not immediately available.
