Police release footage related to December fatal shooting in Dallas

DPD says 22-year-old Jamarcus Irving and another victim were found shot Wednesday morning in the 9500 block of Scyene Road.

DALLAS — The Dallas Police Department is investigating after two people were shot and killed Wednesday morning.

According to the department, officers were called to the shooting in the 9500 block of Scyene Road at about 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 27. When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Jamarcus Irving and Morland Smith, 51, shot.

Police said Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and Irving was pronounced dead at the scene, while Smith was transported to a local hospital and later died from his injuries. 

The investigation determined that Irving and Smith were shot by unknown suspects who fled the location, police said. It's unknown if a third person at the scene was hit, according to police. 

The case is being investigated as a capital murder and remains ongoing as officers work to find the wanted suspects.
