ARLINGTON, Texas — A 30-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday while allegedly attempting to strangle the mother of his child, police say.
According to the Arlington Police Department, officers responded to a shooting in progress at an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Forest Hollow Lane around 11:08 p.m. Police said a woman told officers that the father of her child had been shot by one of her relatives.
Upon arrival, police said officers talked to the suspected shooter, who told them he did it to stop the man from strangling the woman and to protect himself.
According to police, detectives learned that there was a history of domestic violence in the couple's relationship.
The man who was shot was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity will be released at a later date, police said.
The Arlington Police Department said no arrests have been made at this time and the case remains under investigation.
