Arlington police officers under investigation; one commits suicide

Two Arlington police officers have been arrested and a third is being questioned as part of a state and federal computer fraud investigation. One of the arrested officers, David Vo, committed suicide on Tuesday, police said.
Arlington police said Officer David Vo, 34, committed suicide on June 11, 2013 after being arrested in connection with a state and federal computer fraud investigation.

ARLINGTON - An Arlington police officer at the center of an investigation committed suicide on the same day another officer was arrested and a third was placed on administrative leave in connection to the same FBI probe.

Arlington police said Officer Thomas Kantzos, a 17-year veteran of the department, was arrested by the FBI Tuesday as part of a continuing joint investigation with federal and state authorities.

Officer David Vo, another officer who was facing charges in the same investigation, committed suicide on Tuesday afternoon near his home on Park Run Drive, police said.

Vo, 34, was arrested last weekend and released pending charges.

A third employee of the police department, 34-year-old Officer Craig Hermans was placed on administrative leave after being questioned in connection with the criminal probe.

Criminal misconduct by our employees is intolerable as it damages the trust and confidence of those we serve, said Arlington Police Chief Will D. Johnson in a written statement. We will always aggressively pursue the arrest and prosecution of any employee engaged in this sort of behavior.

Officer Kantzos was featured in a Twitter post by the department last December that listed him as a patrol training officer. His message for the community?
