ARLINGTON -- An arbitrator has decided that two Arlington jailers who received termination notices after an inmate’s death last year should be reinstated with back pay, according to the city’s police association.

Matt Fisher and Wes Allen were notified Wednesday of the decision, said officer Chris CeBallos, a board member of the Arlington Municipal Patrolman’s Association.

The men had arbitration hearings last month.

Police officials and the city attorney’s office did not immediately return requests for comment on Thursday, so it could not be learned when Fisher and Allen will return to work.

A full explanation of the arbitrator’s decision was not available.

In a statement, Zach Horn, attorney for Fisher and Allen, said, “The arbitrations marked the first time a truly independent party examined the facts of this case."
