Two teens killed in a fatal shooting at short-term rental, Arlington police say

A man, 19, and a woman, 18, were shot and killed in an Arlington apartment complex Saturday night, police said.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police are investigating a double homicide that occurred Saturday in a short-term rental unit near AT&T Stadium, police said.

Officers responded to a shooting at the Stadium 700 apartment complex around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, according to an Arlington Police Department press release. When police entered the unit, they found a 19-year-old male and 18-year-old female fatally shot.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and medics rushed the woman to the hospital, the release says. She died an hour later at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, according to county records.

On Sunday, the medical examiner identified the 18-year-old as Alexis Tyler of Mesquite.

Neither victim lived at the apartment complex. The 19-year-old man had rented the unit through a short-term rental site, police said.

The Stadium 700 apartment complex is a popular short-term rental location because of its proximity to AT&T Stadium, though there were no major events in Arlington's entertainment district this weekend. The Dallas Cowboys played in Washington, D.C.

Investigators do not believe anything was stolen from the victims, the release said. Witnesses told police they heard gunshots and saw a group of people run away from the direction of the apartment and drive away in a vehicle, the release states.

"Starting, like, two years ago a lot of crime has been happening around here," said Jonathan Trejo, a longtime Stadium 700 apartment resident. "You just don't know what's going to happen."

Police recovered multiple shell casings from the scene, they said. They have not made any arrests, though.

Authorities are still canvassing the area for additional evidence, witnesses, or surveillance video.

Anyone with information about the shooting or video of the incident should call Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
