ARLINGTON, Texas — Three people, including an Arlington police officer, were injured after a reported shooting and house fire Monday evening.
In a news release, Arlington PD said officers responded to a shooting call around 5:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Connally Terrace. On the way, the officers were told the home involved was also on fire.
When officers arrived they found a 61-year-old woman at a neighbor’s house who police say had been grazed by a bullet. She told police her husband started a fire in their backyard and, after she told him to put it out, grabbed a gun and fired at her, according to Arlington PD.
The woman was able to get to a neighbor's house and have them call 911, police say. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said her husband, a 61-year-old man, was found under a pile of burning brush. One officer suffered a minor burn as they were pulling him to safety. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and was released on Monday night.
The suspect suffered multiple serious burns and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Hospital staff said the man died from his injuries on Tuesday morning.
Police believe it was a domestic dispute between the husband and wife that led up to the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
