ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police say they’ve arrested three people in connection with the shooting death of a 27-year-old man at an apartment complex in October.

Officers responded to the shooting at the apartment complex in the 2100 block of Wilcrest Drive Oct. 13 and found a man, later identified as Jarrell Thornton, 27, shot in a vehicle, police said at the time.

Following an investigation, detectives got arrest warrants for 21-year-old Armontay Valencia, 20-year-old Keontay Martin and 21-year-old Jaden Davidson for one count of murder each, according to police.

Valencia was arrested in Mesquite Oct. 25, Martin was arrested in Dallas Oct. 29 and Davidson was arrested after a traffic stop in Arlington Nov. 11, police say.

Detectives believe the three traveled to the apartment complex Oct. 13 to buy drugs from Thornton, officials say.

Police say Martin pulled out a gun and began shooting at Thornton, hitting him multiple times, after the transaction as he was trying to drive away.

Thornton hit several parked vehicles after he was shot in the parking lot before his car came to a stop, according to a news release from police.

Thornton was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, officials say.

Police say they were able to identify the suspects after a witness to an unrelated incident told investigators that they’d been with Martin the night of the shooting and heard him mention he’d kill someone.

A second witness detectives spoke to corroborated that information and placed Valencia, Martin and a third individual at the crime scene, police said. Detectives identified the third individual as Davidson, police said.

Ballistic and digital forensic investigation in the case is ongoing.

Davidson is being held at the Arlington City Jail and Valencia and Martin were since transferred to the Tarrant County Jail.
