DALLAS — A 16-year-old was killed after being hit by a vehicle while he was walking on the shoulder of a freeway in Dallas County, police say.
Dallas County Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 7 p.m. Monday to the crash at westbound 175 CF Hawn Freeway service road at Beltline Road.
When they arrived, deputies say they found a pedestrian had been hit while walking on the shoulder of the roadway.
Deputies determined a Cadillac SUV was traveling westbound on the 175 CF Hawn Freeway service road when traffic stopped in front of it. The driver of the SUV pulled onto the right shoulder of the road, where it hit the pedestrian, officials say.
The pedestrian, a 16-year-old male, was taken to an area hospital where he died, deputies say.
The driver of the SUV remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, officials say.
The crash remains under investigation.
