DALLAS — The Dallas Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old in connection with a fatal shooting in Dallas last month.

On Oct. 26 just after 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 3300 block of Dilido Road. When they arrived, officers found the body of 22-year-old Alexis Fernando Estrada Zambrano with a bullet wound to the face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the arrest affidavit from DPD, surveillance footage from a nearby business showed Zambrano and three others parked on the side of the road, changing his car's back passenger side tire around 3:40 a.m. The affidavit says at around 4:11 a.m., the 16-year-old suspect approached Zambrano, and after a brief scuffle, footage showed Zambrano fall to the ground.

The affidavit says one of the people with Zambrano ran north on Dilido Road, and the other two ran and hid for five minutes before leaving south on Dilido Road.

According to the affidavit, the juvenile suspect and an accomplice were interviewed separately, and both stated that 18-year-old Jason Steven came up with the plan to kill Zambrano after past altercations. The affidavit says Steven called Zambrano for a ride and told the 16-year-old and the accomplice to meet them at his location. When Zambrano was changing his tire, the 16-year-old came up and shot him, the affidavit claims. It goes on to say after the shooting, the 16-year-old gave the gun to Steven.

On Thursday, Nov. 7, the North Texas Marshals' Task Force arrested a 16-year-old and charged them with murder, DPD said in a news release. The next day Steven was arrested and charged with murder, police said. He's being held with no bail at the Dallas County Jail.
