Slow-moving cold front means wide range of temperatures across North Texas

A slow-moving cold front across North Texas today will cause a range of temperatures across the area. Some places will be cool. Some places will be warm. This front is a troublemaker because it means a very different forecast depending on where you live today.

A cold front will slowly sink south in North Texas on Friday, likely ending up somewhere along I-20 during the midday into afternoon hours.

This means the northern parts of North Texas (behind the front) will run cool. You'll probably need the jacket!

On the other hand, southern parts of North Texas (ahead of the front) will run warm -- highs in the 70s and even 80s!

Even across the DFW area, there will likely be a 10° swing or more in temperatures from north to south, potentially low 60s for parts of Collin and Denton counties compared to 70s for southern Tarrant and Dallas counties.

This cold front will start to move south more quickly this afternoon into this evening, and temps will slowly fall as a result. Friday evening plans will be cooler than the last several evenings, especially in the northern half of North Texas.

Looking ahead to the weekend, it will be cooler and dry. Saturday morning starts off cold with lows in the 30s and 40s. Afternoon temps on Saturday will "warm" into 50s. Sunday will be a little milder, but still cool. Highs on Sunday will be around 60°. Both days will feature passing clouds, but it will stay dry.
