Here's how you can help North Texans stay safe in the dangerously hot summer weather

OurCalling, which serves Dallas's unsheltered population, is in need of donations

DALLAS — For the more than 10,000-person unsheltered population in Dallas, the streak of triple-digit temperatures can be dangerous.

Dallas's OurCalling, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing resources to the unsheltered community, needs donations to keep their cooling shelter open and operating extended hours to keep people safe.

Donations Needed

  • Bottled water
  • Sunblock
  • New or gently used sunglasses and hats
  • Cooling wraps
  • Snack packs (pre-packaged items that won't melt in the heat)

Additional needs:

  • Men’s shorts
  • Baseball caps
  • Bug repellant
  • Deodorant
  • Disposable razors

Donations can be dropped off at OurCalling's headquarters at 1702 S. Cesar Chavez Blvd in Dallas. Donors are asked to park in the visitor/volunteer lot located in the back of the building on the south side. Go to the double doors, then hit the buzzer to gain entrance.

OurCalling has extended its regular operating hours – closing at 8 p.m. instead of 3 p.m. During the additional opening hours, they will also serve dinner at 6 p.m.
