BATON ROUGE, La. — With a nearly 90-percent stake in the empire he created, Raising Cane's founder and CEO Todd Graves has amassed a $7.6 billion fortune from selling cooked chicken fingers to now find himself on Bloomberg's Billionaire Index on Thursday.

Not only does Bloomberg list the 51-year-old Baton Rouge native as the richest person in Louisiana, but also as the 307th wealthiest person in the world.

Bloomberg listed Graves ahead of other financial fat cats and fried chicken czars, such as Chick-fil-A chairman Dan Cathy and his brother – and company executive – Bubba Cathy. Both have a total worth estimated at $7.38B.

Graves is also listed above Walmart heiress Ann Kroenke ($7.38B), Dallas Mavericks owner and "Shark Tank" star Mark Cuban ($6.37B), Netflix co-founder and chairman Reed Hastings ($5.49B) and former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz ($5.2B).

One name notably missing from the Bloomberg list is New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson with an estimated net worth of $4.7B, which according to our media partner at The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate ranks 580th on the 2023 Forbes list.

On the Forbes 'real-time billionaires' list, which reflects changes from the previous trading day, the 76-year-old Benson is listed at No. 448 with $6.1B.

The lowest net worth on the Bloomberg Billionaire Index is $5.2 billion.

Graves is not listed on either Forbes lists.

Meanwhile, Tesla, SpaceX and X (formerly known as Twitter) owner Elon Musk tops both Bloomberg and Forbes with and estimated net value of $225B and $240.7B respectively.
