Uniqlo at Galleria Dallas opens Friday with crazy long lines

The store opened Oct. 18 with events and promotions featuring local artists.

DALLAS — Uniqlo's first store in the DFW area opened Friday, Oct. 18 at the Galleria Dallas.

The grand opening features a slate of events and exclusive products from local artisans and designers, according to a press release from the company.

The grand opening kicks off with a ribbon cutting and a Japanese drum performance, according to the release. Doors will officially open at 10 a.m.

The Japanese retailer partnered with four local artists to create T-shirts with limited-edition designs. The T-shirts will be available at the Galleria Dallas location for a full year. The brand collaborated with CocoAndre Chocolatier of Oak Cliff, 15-year-old artist Dear Giana, illustrator Michelle Spearman and Olmo Market of Oak Cliff.

Throughout opening weekend, customers will also get access to a Japanese calligraphy experience, giveaways, gifts with purchase and morning breakfasts, according to the release.

Representatives from Harmony House, a nonprofit serving Dallas' homeless population, will also be there to celebrate the store's opening. Uniqlo will donate all gently used clothes collected in the store to the nonprofit, the release states.

Uniqlo is also set to open locations at The Parks Mall in Arlington and Stonebriar Centre in Frisco.
