DALLAS — Four Texas Family Fitness gyms will close in North Texas after the company was acquired by Planet Fitness, the company announced.
Texas Family Fitness announced the merger in a statement Monday. The company owned 11 gyms across DFW, according to the statement. Planet Fitness owns over 2,600 locations accross the U.S.
"We are deeply grateful for your loyalty, support, and the fitness journey we’ve shared over the years," the statement reads. "Thank you for being part of our story and for allowing us to serve this amazing community."
As a result of the merger, four Texas Family Fitness locations will close and locations that remain open will no longer provide childcare services or group classes, according to an update from Planet Fitness. The following Texas Family Fitness locations are closed:
- Lakewood (6464 E. Mockingbird Ln., Suite 130, Dallas, TX 75214)
- East Plano (910 W. Parker Rd. #250, Plano, TX 75075)
- Garland (1121 Northwest Highway, Garland, TX 75041)
- The Colony (5000 Main St. #50, The Colony, TX 75056)
Members of the closed locations will be transferred to the nearest Planet Fitness location, Texas Family Fitness said in an email to customers.
"These nearby facilities will provide a similar experience that's convenient for members to continue their fitness journey," the email states.
Seven existing Texas Family Fitness locations will be immediately remodeled, remain open 24/7 and offer spa amenities with an enhanced membership.
Current Texas Family Fitness members automatically became Planet Fitness members Dec. 16, according to Planet Fitness. Billing will continue based on the customer's original contract and billing dates, according to Texas Family Fitness.
