Fort Worth strip club owner defends his right to open

"I don't understand the fuss," said Eric Langan, the owner of Rick's Cabaret. The upscale gentleman's club plans to open Thursday, in time for the Super Bowl, despite opposition from powerful neighbors and politicians.
Because it was unable to secure a liquor license, Rick's Cabaret will open as a BYOB club with all-nude dancers.

FORT WORTH It won't be selling liquor, but Rick's Cabaret is opening its doors Thursday just in time for Super Bowl XLV.

The upscale gentleman's club will be BYOB and that means dancers can be fully nude.

I don't understand the fuss, said owner Eric Langan.

The self-made businessman owns seven gentlemen's clubs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and 22 across the country.

He spent $4.5 million on the Fort Worth site, located near the south entrance to Dallas/Fort Worth InternationalAirport.

The club'slocation brought protests recently from Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief, American Airlines, and the airport's board.

The group hasasked the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to prevent the club from getting its liquor license.

I don't think they realize we can open, Langan said. I think they thought they were going to to stop the opening of the club by protesting at the last minute.

A hearing is scheduled on the matter in April.
