Conn's HomePlus to close dozens of stores nationwide, including 4 in North Texas

Texas-based Conn's HomePlus will close nearly half of its existing stores, according to the company's website.

DALLAS — Conn's HomePlus will close nearly half of its 170 stores, the company announced. Four of those are in North Texas.

CNN reported Wednesday that the company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company was founded in Beaumont, Texas in 1890. Today, Conn's is based in The Woodlands outside of Houston and employs 4,000 people. 

Conn's will close nine stores in Texas, the company announced. It currently has 80 stores in Texas. Only Florida saw more store closures with 18.

It's currently unclear when those stores will close. The company recently received a delinquency notification letter from Nasdaq, due to a delay in filing its quarterly report.
