DALLAS — The pickleball craze continues to build as Pickle and Social and The Picklr head to Dallas-Fort Worth.
Pickle and Social is heading to Frisco Station, a 242-acre mixed-used development in the community north of Dallas. The concept will offer both outdoor and indoor pickleball courts along with a putting green, yard games, beach volleyball and ping-pong. Construction was set to begin in spring 2023 with an opening date slated in spring 2025.
The pickleball concept will open alongside Fairway Social, another entertainment venue featuring golf and other sports.
“As one of the fastest growing cities in America, it’s fitting for Frisco to become a destination for pickleball,” Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney said in a prepared statement. “Our residents have been asking for more pickleball courts for quite some time, so I’m confident this concept will be popular with locals and visitors alike. We’re a community with an active lifestyle and look forward to this concept complimenting Frisco Station’s development.”
Utah-based The Picklr, an indoor pickleball facility, also announced this week its national expansion plans, which include six new locations across Austin and DFW. An opening date for locations in Dallas-Fort Worth was not disclosed.
"In coming on board to expand The Picklr, our new partners see the value of making this sport accessible and enjoyable to people across the country,” Jorge Baargan, founder and CEO of The Picklr, said in a prepared statement. “The Picklr stands out among our competition through high-end facilities and our unique sense of community that is evident to anyone lucky enough to be a part of The Picklr, whether as a member, competitor or now our new franchisees."
