A Swedish security technology company recently announced plans to consolidate and relocate its North American headquarters to Plano’s Research-Technology Crossroads at 2925 East Plano Parkway.

The firm plans to open its new facility in October.

In a Jan. 22 release, Assa Abloy Global Solutions said it will hire 350 new employees at its new Plano campus over the next 10 years. The company will lease 107,000 square feet of flex space at the city’s 800-acre technology and industrial park.

Assa Abloy, which operates in more than 70 countries, is a manufacturer of locks, doors, and other high-tech security systems. Its current North American headquarters are in New Haven, Conn. The company's announcement to relocate comes as several other international tech companies make inroads in North Texas, such as Vistech's move to Allen.

Plano Mayor John Muns said the city is honored to be Assa Abloy’s new North American home and looks forward to its future partnership.

“We eagerly anticipate the potential collaboration and innovation that their global expertise will bring to our community,” Muns said in a statement. “The Company’s relocation to Plano’s Research-Technology Crossroads enhances the district’s reputation as one of the most dynamic and thriving centers for research and innovation.”

Research-Technology Crossroads in southeast Plano is located near the University of Texas at Dallas and Texas Instruments' semiconductor plant. Several other tech companies are located nearby including Creation Technologies, Luminator Technology Group and ABB Power Electronics Inc.

Nicolas Aznar, Assa Abloy’s president of the Americas, said the company looks forward to “leveraging all of the new opportunities that this transition will bring.”

“Plano serves as an important hub for technological innovation and will be central to our goal of continuing to expand our portfolio of solutions and services for customers across the Americas,” Aznar said in the release.
