DALLAS — The National Rental Home Council recently released its latest Single-Family Rental Market Index, which shows that demand for rental homes has surged during the pandemic.

Dallas-Fort Worth is seeing strong growth in occupancy of single-family rentals. In addition, two of the major players in the single-family rental business — Invitation Homes and Progress Residential — are based in Dallas, and stand to benefit from the national trend.

The index shows strong growth in the single-family rental market during the initial months of the COVID-19 crisis, April through June.

The reason behind the increased demand is that most Americans will be working and studying from home for the foreseeable future, so they’re looking for affordable homes in quality neighborhoods with all the amenities and conveniences offered by a single-family home lifestyle, said David Howard, the executive director of the National Rental Home Council.
