FORT WORTH, Texas — An acclaimed Florida-based coffee shop celebrated the grand opening of their first Texas location on Wednesday.
Kahwa Coffee’s first Texas location opened on the ground floor of the Highline on Magnolia apartment building at 1050 W. Magnolia Avenue in June.
In addition to coffee, espresso drinks, teas, lemonades and more, Kahwa Coffee’s menu includes breakfast sandwiches, scones, croissants, muffins and other sweet and savory treats.
"We have frequented the Magnolia area restaurants for years and were excited to find a brand new apartment building with retail space underneath when we were looking for a place for our first store," said Kelli Savering, one of the owners of the Fort Worth location.
Savering says they're planning to open a second location in North Texas in Justin in October with a drive-thru, and some outdoor seating in addition to the dine-in café.
Kahwa Coffee was founded in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2006 by Sarah and Raphael Perrier. It rose to prominence after receiving a stamp of approval from renowned French chef Paul Bocuse, who selected Kahwa for his restaurant in Epcot called Chefs de France.
Kahwa Coffee has grown to be the largest independent coffee roaster in the state of Florida with 14 locations.
Savering says they have sights set on a potential third location in Haslet as well.
