For the first time, Charles Schwab has opened the doors of its new Westlake campus for an inside look.
The company's 1.1 million-square-foot campus is located at 3000 Schwab Way and is spread across 70 acres within Hillwood's Circle T Ranch development. Phase one of the new campus has already been delivered, with phase two completing sometime in mid-2021. Developed by Hillwood, the campus was designed by Corgan and built by DPR Construction.
Schwab's new campus features numerous amenities and noteworthy design choices. Outdoor water features immediately greet employees and guests, complimented by the greater ranch and Turner Lake views. The lake is also visible from Schwab's employee dining room, which features a large fireplace. The campus cafeteria is completely digital, offering cashier-less checkout stations, and an on-campus coffee shop allows for employees to recharge.
Fabrics, wood and stonework have all been sourced from Texas-based providers. The company has also created numerous collaboration areas and workspaces within the campus so employees can work from anywhere. These collaboration areas can be found on most floors and range from communal tables, more casual couches and sitting areas to small, intimate meeting areas.
More than 2,500 Schwab (NYSE: SCHW) employees already work within the new campus. Once phase two is complete, the campus will be able to accommodate approximately 6,000 employees. It has not yet been determined if additional phases will come later, the company said.
When work started on the campus in 2017, it was a regional hub for Charles Schwab. As of Jan. 1, the Westlake campus is now officially Schwab's new headquarters, having since relocated from San Francisco. Near the Westlake campus, approximately 2,000 TD Ameritrade employees currently office in Southlake. Schwab acquired TD Ameritrade in a $26 billion deal last year. It is unclear if these employees will eventually join Schwab's employees in Westlake.
