DALLAS — A Pennsylvania-based discount closeout store chain is opening 10 locations in Texas in former 99 Cents Only stores, including two in North Texas.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Monday announced plans to open in 10 former 99 Cents Only stores in Texas in the Dallas, Houston, McAllen and San Antonio areas.

Here’s where the new stores will open in North Texas:

  • 3632 Frankford Road in Dallas
  • 410 E. Camp Wisdom Road in Duncanville

The stores will open Thursday and will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The new stores will bring the number of Ollie’s locations in Dallas and Fort Worth to 11 and 50 in Texas.

Ollie’s sells closeout merchandise and excess inventory, including books, flooring, food, housewares, toys, electronics, health and beauty products, and more. The company says each new store brings 50-60 new jobs.

99 Cents Only filed for bankruptcy in April, with Texas stores being converted into Ollie’s or Dollar General stores.

"We are incredibly excited to open ten more stores in the great state of Texas where the folks have been so good to us," said Ollie’s Bargain Outlet CEO John Swygert. "With the closing of 99₵ Stores throughout the state, we're thrilled to provide shoppers in the Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and McAllen areas with a treasure hunt experience where they can find a huge selection of brand name bargains at prices that won't break the bank!"

Ollie’s won the bid to acquire 11 former 99 Cents Only locations in Texas in May as part of the bankruptcy proceedings. Dollar Tree acquired leases for 170 99 Cents Only stores in Texas, California, Arizona and Nevada in May.

Founded in 1982, Ollie’s has more than 500 stores in 31 states.
