IRVING, Texas — A division of global supply chain company DHL has relocated its distribution center from Grand Prairie to Irving.
DHL eCommerce moved from Grand Prairie to a 220,000 distribution Center at 5320 W. Airport Freeway six miles from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
The new facility hosts about 150 employees across three shifts and can process 24,000 parcels per hour, double the amount processed at DHL’s previous location. The facility will specialize in e-commerce domestic inbound and outbound parcels and packages.
DHL eCommerce invested $57.5 million in the land, construction, sustainability features, such as exhaust fans and louvers for fresh air flow, an insulated roof deck, solar shades on exterior windows, LED lighting, and more, and new automation.
The distribution center has 46 loading dock doors, two drive-in ramps, 11 offices, conference and huddle rooms, 12 cubicles, a kitchenette, and a multipurpose room.
“We are thrilled to announce the relocation of DHL eCommerce's distribution center to a larger facility in thriving Irving, TX, with easy access to the international airport for air and ground transport,” said Lee Spratt, CEO of DHL eCommerce, Americas. “This relocation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to innovation and increasing our capacity to process our customers’ ever-growing shipping needs."
DHL eCommerce is a division of DHL Group, which is based in Bonn, Germany.
