A manufacturer of clean energy storage products is investing $100 million in a new 483,874-square-foot facility in Mesquite.

The new battery module and system assembly plant by Hithium Tech USA Inc. will be located in the 20 East Trinity Pointe business park, the Dallas Morning News reported. This marks Hithium’s first production location in the U.S. and will generate 141 manufacturing jobs in five years.

Hithium will be the first tenant at the 20 East Trinity Pointe Park. Stream Realty Partners broke ground on the first phase of the six-building, 3.4-million-square-foot development last month.

"The new facility will accelerate Hithium's development and production of energy storage system products for the U.S. market while also boosting the Mesquite area's economic growth and development," Hithium Chairman Jeff Wu said in a statement. "We're excited to collaborate with local partners to ensure that our plans align with Mesquite's vision for growth, which is anchored in a rejuvenated manufacturing economy with diverse job opportunities and value for the community."

Founded in 2019, Hithium is a subsidiary of China-headquartered Xiamen Hithium Energy Storage Technology Co. Ltd and has its U.S. headquarters in Fremont, California.

The company isn’t the only manufacturer to recently select Mesquite for a major plant. Canadian Solar Inc invested approximately $270 million in its new production facility in the city east of Dallas. The plant has nearly 1,000 employees and plans to hire 1,500 workers, Yan Zhuang, president of CSI Solar said at the opening ceremony on June 7.

The jobs planned by Hithium come on the heels of a banner year for economic development in Mesquite, with around 2,800 new jobs pledged by companies moving into the city in 2023.
