A Southern California-based jeweler is expanding across Texas — it plans to put its 10th store in the state at Plano's Legacy West, with an opening date set for June 1.

Gorjana, which is headquartered in Laguna Beach, California, calls itself a “casual luxury jewelry line” and was founded in 2004 by a couple who wanted to collaborate and try something new together. The brand prides itself on accessible, quality products, ranging from bracelets and necklaces to rings and earrings. Most products are in the $50 to $100 price range, and Gorjana is known for selling gold jewelry featuring diamonds, opals and sapphires.

This would be its fourth store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, after attracting significant business at West Village in Dallas, University Park Village in Fort Worth and Southlake Town Square, the latter two of which both debuted in April 2023.

At 1,528 square feet, the forthcoming Legacy West store will be the company's largest in DFW. The space at 7700 Windrose Ave., suite G155, was previously home to Rustic Cuff, which sold personalized bracelets and other jewelry.

Gorjana & Griffin Inc., as it is legally known, operates more than 70 stores in the United States, with more than 20 in its home state of California.

"The store is meant to evoke a Southern California bungalow feel, like bringing Laguna Beach directly to Texas," the company said in a statement.

Legacy West is home to many upscale retailers and a handful of jewelry stores including Tiffany & Co. and David Yurman. It also has some other new clothing retailers coming soon. Canadian women’s fashion retailer Aritzia is expected to open there sometime this summer.

"We are excited to welcome the popular jewelry brand Gorjana to Legacy West," a representative of Prism Places, the mall’s operator, said in a statement. "Their superior product and customer relations offerings will be a fitting addition to the best-in-class experience we aim to provide to all who visit the property."

A spokesperson with Legacy West said the store will "add depth" to the center's diverse jewelry offering.

The company also prides itself on its philanthropic mission, having donated more than $2 million to various nonprofits, mostly focused on improving the lives of women and children. Plano organizations wanting help are asked to fill out a charity request form.

Although some older malls are struggling in parts of North Texas, newer retail districts like Legacy West are still a destination for many shoppers.

But for others, including Willow Bend in Plano, redevelopment is in the cards as mall operators angle to stoke consumer interest and attract businesses.
