Baylor Scott & White to close Flower Mound rehab facility next month

The Dallas-based nonprofit healthcare system is trying to help those affected find new jobs.

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation - Home Health is closing in Flower Mound, resulting in about 80 potential layoffs.

The rehabilitation clinic, located at 1241 Cross Timbers Road in Denton County, is expected to close around June 30, according to a letter sent to the Texas Workforce Commission.

The 78 impacted employees include licensed vocational nurses, physical therapists and a clinical manager.

Baylor Scott & White, a Dallas-based nonprofit healthcare system, is trying to help those affected find new jobs.

"We are committed to supporting those impacted by this transition, including identifying potential employment opportunities within Select Medical, Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation and AccentCare, Baylor Scott & White Health’s current in-home care joint venture partner," Shelly Eckenroth, chief communications officer at Select Medical, wrote in an email to Dallas Business Journal.

Select Medical Corp. is based in Pennsylvania and is one of the largest operators of rehabilitation hospitals. Select and Baylor Scott & White formed a joint venture in 2011, according to Select's website.

Eckenroth said no other Select Medical and Baylor Scott & White Health joint venture facilities are closing.

Julie Smith, Baylor Scott & White director of public relations, said in an emailed statement that the company seeks to continue growing its home health offerings with its partner, which employs more than 600 people across North and Central Texas.

Baylor Scott & White employs more than 49,000 across Texas, which it said makes it the largest nonprofit health system in the state.
