'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree' reaches No. 1 after 65 years

Brenda Lee has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time since 1960.

LOS ANGELES — Brenda Lee is back on top of the Billboard Hot 100.

Lee's "Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree" is the No. 1 song in the country for the first time — 65 years after its 1958 release.

"Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree" is Lee's third No. 1 song and her first since 1960.

Lee, 78, was 13 years old when she recorded the track. She's now the oldest woman to top the Hot 100.

"I cannot believe that 'Rockin'' has hit No. 1 65 years after it was released, this is just so special!" Lee said in a press statement. "Thank you to the team at UMG/UMe who worked so hard to celebrate the song’s anniversary this year. But most importantly, thank you to the fans who keep listening."

"The song came out when I was a young teenager and now to know that it has resonated with multiple generations and continues to resonate — it is one of the best gifts I have ever received. Keep on Rockin’ and Merry Christmas!" Lee said.

Last month, Lee released the first-ever music video for "Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree."

Christmas music is ruling the Billboard Hot 100 this week with six of the top 10 songs.

Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" sits at No. 2, Bobby Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock" at No. 4, "Last Christmas" by Wham! at No. 5, "Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives at No. 6, and Andy Williams' "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" at No. 10.

Billboard said "Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree" is the 1,161st No. 1 in the Hot 100's history.
