DALLAS — Thanksgiving is expected to cost slightly less this year, but buying food for the holidays can be a challenge for some families.
Thankfully, there is no shortage of resources available for North Texans looking for free food ahead of the holiday. Here is a full list of resources that are still available ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Free Thanksgiving food around Dallas
Operation Turkey – Everywhere
Operation Turkey volunteers cook, prepare, pack and deliver hot meals to several North Texas communities. Each meal includes turkey, stuffing and vegetables. Meals will be delivered between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. You can request a meal here.
Meals of Thanks & Giving food distribution – West Dallas
You can drive thru and pick up an uncooked turkey and fresh produce Monday, Nov. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Dallas Multipurpose Center 2828 Fish Trap Rd. Dallas, TX 75212. There will be enough food for 300 families and the food is only available for families living in ZIP Codes 75208, 75211 and 75212
East Dallas Turkey Giveaway – East Dallas
East Dallas council members will host a turkey giveaway from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 20 at Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space 1451 John West Road Dallas Texas 75228. To participate, fill out this form.
MILK Fresh Produce Distribution Center – South Dallas
The Distribution Center aims to increase access to fresh food in Dallas. It is open weekly from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center 2922 MLK Blvd., Dallas, TX 75215.
Dallas LIFE Turkey Fry – Downtown Dallas
Dallas LIFE will fry 100 turkeys in its parking lot for unhoused people from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25 on Cadiz Street in downtown Dallas. Volunteers will also hand out Thanksgiving baskets.
AXE Memorial United Church – Garland
The church will serve Thanksgiving dinner from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. You can register for the dinner here.
Life Message – Rowlett
Life Message offers regular food assistance and will provide food boxes and turkeys on Thanksgiving, Nov. 28, 4501 Rowlett Rd Suite 200, Rowlett, TX 75088. The church is also accepting donations of food boxes containing turkeys, boxed stuffing, canned veggies, pie filling, and pie crusts until November 15.
Norma’s Café – Oak Cliff
Norma’s Café opens its doors for Thanksgiving every year, providing roasted turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and green beans with a slice of pumpkin pie. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the restaurant will serve food until 1 p.m., 1123 W. Davis St, Dallas, TX 75208.
North Texas Food Bank – Southern Dallas
The North Texas Food Bank will host a food distribution event on the University of North Texas at Dallas campus from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 23 at 7300 University Hills Blvd. Each family will receive a turkey and around 60 lbs. of nutritious food.
Metrocrest Services – Northwest Dallas
Metrocrest Services will provide Thanksgiving dinner to those in need living in Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Farmers Branch, and the city of Dallas in Denton County. Registration is required, and you can sign up for food assistance here. Pickup will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at 1145 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton, TX 75006.
Free Thanksgiving food near Fort Worth
Tarrant Area Food Bank – Arlington, Denton
The Tarrant Area Food Bank will host a mega mobile distribution event from 1 a.m. to 12 p.m. Nov. 21 at AT&T Stadium, 1 AT&T Way Arlington, TX 76011.
The Food Bank will also host a distribution event in Denton from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Nov. 19 at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex, 1500 Long Road Denton, 76207.

Christian Community Assistance is distributing Thanksgiving baskets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 1903 W. Bowie St., Fort Worth. You can call 817-921-9622 to make an appointment.
The nonprofit is also requesting donations of typical Thanksgiving items and gift cards.
Inspired to Live church

Charley Taylor Recreation Center – Grand Prairie
