DALLAS — Even North Texas scrooges who take public transportation may be unable to avoid holiday cheer until we ring in the new year.
Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) decked-out holiday bus fleet is making its way around town, and its dazzling holiday train has started ferrying riders across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
This year, DART’s holiday theme is, “Explore a DARTable Wonderland,” with visuals that include a customized snow globe representing each of DART’s 13 member cities.
The holiday buses will travel on various bus routes throughout the metroplex through the end of December.
When the holiday trains pull into a station, they will be wrapped with seasonal images and twinkling lights. The two DART holiday trains will make regularly scheduled stops at each station along their route each evening.
"The DART Holiday trains and buses have become a holiday favorite in our region...We are excited to have these vehicles transporting our passengers during this festive season," said Jeamy Molina EVP and Chief Communications Officer for DART.
On Wednesday, DART released its winter holiday schedule for Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 30-31. In partnership with Molson Coors Beverage Company, DART will also offer free rides on New Year's Eve.
On Dec. 24, DART buses, light rail and paratransit will operate on a normal weekday schedule, with GoLink rideshare service running from 5 a.m. to midnight in all zones.
On Dec. 25, DART buses and light rail will operate on the weekend schedule, with GoLink running from 5 a.m. to midnight in all zones except the Inland Port Transportation Management Association Zone, which includes areas in Lancaster, DeSoto, Wilmer and Hutchins.
