'Santa came early this year,' | Texas truck driver delivers integral Christmas items to Colorado family

A truck driver altered his route to deliver Christmas items to a family who could not take them to Colorado Springs when they moved from Copperas Cove.

COPPERAS COVE, Texas — Emma Wieseman and her mother Michele look forward to Christmas every year and have special traditions to commemorate those they love.

"A lot of our Christmas decorations belong to my mother and I lost her back in 2017," Wieseman shared. "I have a tree every year for Christmas that's designated specifically to my mom."

This year is the first year they will be spending Christmas in Colorado Springs, CO after they moved there about a year ago from Copperas Cove. The problem is when they moved, they weren't able to take everything with them.

"The things that we left behind, I was thinking they were things I wouldn't need for a little while at least," Wieseman added. "That just hasn't really worked out very well."

Emma was hoping to have her special elves and the family wanted to continue their tree tradition for the holidays.

So on Nov. 13, Wiesemann's mother-in-law Ally Lamb asked a Copperas Cove community group for help on Facebook.

"I put in the Copperas Cove Hot Topics Facebook page for anyone who might have been PCSing to Colorado Springs and would be willing to take about five or six boxes of Christmas ornaments, decorations, and a Christmas tree to their house," Lamb said.

Less than 30 minutes later, a Copperas Cove truck driver replied to the post saying Colorado was on his route and he was able to help.

Wieseman told 6 News the driver picked up about five bins of Christmas items from a location in Harker Heights. He then made his first stop for work in Fort Worth then proceeded on a 12-plus hour drive to Colorado.

He made it to Colorado Springs around 12 p.m. MST on Nov. 14 with all of the Wisesmann's special Christmas items.

"It's very heartfelt to know that there are great human beings in this world that you can trust a complete stranger," Weiseman added.

The truck driver chose to be nameless as he believed he was just at the right place at the right time.

Emma Wiesemann had a special gift basket with snacks and goodies for the drive when he arrived.

"We're just very blessed and very fortunate that this man has decided to play Santa a little bit early,"
