DALLAS — It's time to eat, foodies! Yelp released its annual list of the Top 100 U.S. Restaurants and the lineup does not disappoint.
There were eight places from the Lone Star State mentioned on the list including one in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Mr Max Izakaya Restaurant in Irving claimed the No. 72 spot on Yelp's nationwide list.
One Yelper said: "If you want an authentic experience, you’ve come to the right place. Mr Max has been an OG spot for Japanese food in DFW for the past 30 years."
The No. 1 spot this year went to a vegetarian Mexican restaurant in Tucson, Arizona called Tumerico. Rounding out the top 5 were Menya Rui in St. Louis, Missouri; Sunny Side Kitchen in Escondido, California; GS Cafe and Ethiopian Cuisine in Covina, California; and Fratellino in Coral Gables, Florida.

- No. 38 Tacos Doña Lena (Houston, Texas)
- No. 61 Avesta Persian Grill (Houston, Texas)
- No. 63 Pappa Gyros (Katy, Texas)
- No. 72 Mr Max (Irving, Texas)
- No. 77 Mr. A-Ok's Kitchen (San Antonio, Texas)
- No. 99 Southern Yankee Crafthouse (Houston, Texas)

Yelp, the leading website and app for crowd-sourced reviews about businesses, said it creates its annual lists of top restaurants by analyzing ratings, the number of reviews, and the volume of submissions.
Yelp said there were several new trends it noticed while going through the data. Noodle shops, Korean fusion and twists on traditional Latin cuisine were the most popular throughout the list.
