A Thai restaurant that got its start in Mansfield is expanding to downtown Arlington.

Blue Mint Thai & Asian Cuisine plans to open next year in 1,815 square feet at 380 E. Front St. That will be walking distance from Arlington's downtown library, acclaimed restaurant Hurtado Barbecue, the Levitt Pavilion performance space, and the row of restaurant and bars located along East Abram Street.

Blue Mint Thai owner Mike Wilson signed a 10-year lease and the Arlington location is expected to open next spring or summer, according to an announcement.

Wilson is seeking to expand across the DFW area with owner-operated locations, and has plans for national franchising for the years ahead, a Woodmont spokesperson said.

"We are incredibly proud to see Blue Mint Thai & Asian Cuisine lock in their third location," Tim Zimmer, brokerage associate at The Woodmont Company said in a statement. "We are more excited to see the raving reviews pour in when downtown Arlington gets to try the best Thai food in Texas."

Woodmont's Tim Zimmer and Grant Gary represented Blue Mint Thai, and Ryan Dodson and Amber Calhoun represented the building's landlord.

Wilson, an Air Force veteran and retired police detective with the City of Arlington, opened Blue Mint Thai in Mansfield in 2008. The menu boasts Thai staples like tom yum soup and pad Thai, as well as dishes like orange chicken and chicken wings.

The restaurant is also expanding with a planned Midlothian location.
