New Year, new chef ready to impress at Live! By Loews

“There is a cliché with hotel restaurants that they are not as food as free-standing restaurants,” Robert Carr said about a perception he wants to prove wrong.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A new chef is using the new year to introduce Arlington customers to his carefully crafted cuisine.

The Live! by Loews hotel, sitting conveniently adjacent to Texas Live and nestled between Globe Life Field and AT&T Stadium, hosts plenty of sports fans, concertgoers and other visitors to Arlington.

Robert Carr wants to give them a food experience usually found at high-end restaurants.

“There is a cliché with hotel restaurants that they are not as food as free-standing restaurants,” said Carr about a perception he wants to prove wrong.

Carr became the new executive chef at Live! by Loews in November but a five-course New Year’s Eve dinner at the hotel restaurant Cut & Bourbon is how he is introducing guests to his flavor along with a new year. A menu that will include dishes like Porcini-Truffle Risotto, Texas Akaushi Beef Triploin, and Black Truffle Glazed Duck Breast.

“I like simple food but lots of bold flavor,” said Carr. “I look at all the ingredients being different, but they are all cohesive, they are going to match.”

Carr’s cooking experience started as a child when he would be in the kitchen with his grandmother helping her cook dinners for her 10 children and several more grandchildren during family get-togethers. He has cooked around the world and now wants food to be added to the list of attractions drawing people to Arlington.

Reservations are still available for $140 a person for the five-course prix fixe dinner that will include live music, champagne at midnight and NYE party favors. You can make reservations and see the entire menu here.
