ALLEN, Texas — There's a new craft brewery spot in Allen ... and you may recognize its owners.
She's a successful blogger, a star on HGTV and a mom of three. They already own their own coffee shop, but now they're brewing something new.
Jenn Todryk from "No Demo Reno" already owns Armor Coffee Co. in Allen, but now it's a passion of her husband, Mike, that the couple is pouring into.
"Come on in to my latest endeavor," Todryk said, welcoming WFAA for a behind-the-scenes look.
In the shadow of the Allen water tower lies Armor Brewing Co., which opened this year. Todryk told WFAA her husband loves going to breweries, so opening their own became a passion project for him, and she wanted to support him because they do everything together.
So, why "Armor?" The name is inspired by family and faith.
"Armor came from a couple things ... the Bible verse about God being your armor and protection ... and also Mike was an armor officer in the military," Todryk said.
So, the Todryks put on their armor, bought a vacant brewery and transformed it into an up-scale, yet family-friendly spot in North Texas. Oh, and their beers are already winning awards!
"I'm really proud of the beer. We have 12 beers on tap now and we are going to be growing up to 24," Mike Todryk told WFAA. "We are going to keep a constant rotation here from light to dark and should we show 'em Gary?"
"Show 'em Gary," Jenn Todryk responded.
The "Gary" is a take-out beer from Armor Brewing Co., inspired by a special member of the Todryk family. Gary is the family's golden retriever.
Gary (the beer, not the dog) and the rest of the magic is brewed in the brewhouse, which features 60 barrel fermenters that each produce nearly 120 kegs at a time. Sounds like quite the party, eh? Well, there's actually a space where the party really comes in: the party room.
"Booge in the best way," Jenn Todryk said. "It is a really big, special room just for people who want to book an event here."
Armor Brewing Co. also has a full service restaurant.
"We are not bar food. I told Mike, if we're doing this, this is gonna a swanky, legit place," Jenn Todryk said. "And it is. the food is so good."
There is built-in fun with patio space, an outdoor music stage and pickleball courts (to come soon). Inside, you can reserve a state-of-the-art dart room.
So, what will the Todryks take on next?
"There's really no end goal or end game. I think that's why it's working so well, is we don't have pressure around it. We're just trying to enjoy every little win that we have every day."
"It's been nuts in the best way possible, it's been so fun," Jenn Todryk said.
Cheers to that!
