FRISCO, Texas — New-York based frozen yogurt chain 16 Handles is getting ready to debut in North Texas, the first of five to 10 possible locations for the region.
16 Handles announced its store in Frisco will hold a grand opening May 4. It leased space at 15922 Eldorado Pkwy., suite #500.
Husband and wife Sachin Desphande and Aparna Desphande are the franchisees of the Frisco store.
Sachin Desphande is an experienced IT professional who will help manage the Frisco store alongside his wife Aparna Desphande, who has aspired to run her own business for a while. The couple plans to donate a portion of the store’s earnings to Frisco police and other local charities as a show of community support.
"It’s our commitment to ensuring that our business leaves a lasting positive impact on those around us," Aparna Desphande said in a statement.
16 Handles CEO Neil Hershman previously told Dallas Business Journal about the goal to open up to 10 locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro, part of the company's plans to open 40 stories across the state within five years. He said at the time that Frisco was a great place to start in DFW because of its high median income and population density.
At the Frisco store, the first 100 customers will receive a free unlimited cup or cone of 16 Handles frozen yogurt, as well as a commemorative pin, according to the announcement.
