DALLAS — Those looking for food will want to avoid DoorDash, as the delivery service announced it would be suspending operations during the extreme weather.
DoorDash announced at noon Tuesday it was activating its severe weather protocol, which means suspending its operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
This precaution was taken as the icy weather has caused dangerous road conditions and closures around the metroplex.
“This significant winter storm has created extremely hazardous travel conditions,” said DoorDash spokesperson Juian Crowley in a statement.
Operations are expected to resume at 9 a.m. Thursday, depending on weather conditions, the service said.
"Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this storm," Crowley added. We want to thank the affected Dashers, merchants and customers for their understanding during these difficult conditions and we will resume operations when it is safe to do so.”
Another delivery service, Uber Eats, appears to still be offering delivery for those still without food at home, but it may take longer due to the road conditions.
