DALLAS — A new pizza company is looking to earn itself a slice of the North Texas pizza market in the near future.

Donatos Pizza announced this month that it plans to enter the region by opening 20 new locations across Dallas-Fort Worth starting in 2024.

The Ohio-based company already currently serves pizzas, subs, salads and wings at over 460 locations across 29 states.

The restaurant specializes in "premium" pizzas that are "abundantly topped" to the edge of each pie's crust.

Of those 460 locations, 179 are traditional standalone restaurants located in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Florida and Oklahoma; 274 are housed within Red Robin restaurants; nine operate out of sports and entertainment venues; and four exist within REEF-branded ghost kitchens.

A press release announcing Donatos' expansion into Texas touts that the 20 new locations are the result of partnerships with four new franchise groups. The press release adds that Donatos believes, with additional partners, it could open as many as 50 locations across North Texas in the coming years.

Expansion into other regions across Texas in expected to follow.

"We are excited to bring Donatos to the vibrant state of Texas, beginning with the Dallas-Fort Worth area," the company's Vice President of Franchise Development Jeff Baldwin said in the press release. "Our expansion is not just about introducing a new premium pizza; it is about creating a lasting connection with the community and giving back. With four dedicated franchise groups leading the way, and room for growth, we look forward to sharing Donatos Pizza with the Lone Star State."
